As a child, director Lissette Orozco’s aunt Adriana Rivas was her idol. She was a confident, independent woman who had made a life for herself in Australia. One day in 2007, Adriana is suddenly arrested while visiting her family in Chile and accused of having worked for Pinochet’s notorious secret police, DINA. Adriana denies these accusations. Her niece sets out to investigate Adriana’s history and begins filming. By 2011, her investigations are beginning to expand more and more, but then her aunt suddenly takes flight, just before a trial. This riveting personal documentary reveals long buried conflicts within a family that reflect the deep social wounds of Chile as a whole.

De niña tuve una ídola: mi tía Adriana. En el 2007 la tomaron detenida y me enteré que en su juventud trabajó para la DINA, la policía secreta del dictador Pinochet. Tiempo después, ya en democracia, se fugó del país mientras enfrentaba un proceso judicial por el asesinato de un dirigente comunista. Hoy mi tía vive una pesadilla. En Australia los residentes chilenos piden su extradición y marchan en su contra. El caso se ha vuelto mediático. Tengo un acceso privilegiado a los victimarios de la dictadura y estoy dispuesta a llegar a las últimas consecuencias para conocer la verdad y saber quién es realmente mi tía Adriana.

Lissette Orozco (Santiago de Chile, 1987) is a director and screenwriter who studied documentary at the Universidad de Artes, Ciencias y Comunicación in Santiago. El pacto de Adriana (Adriana’s Pact) is her feature film debut and has already received support during its development phase from the Tribeca Film Institute. She has worked on various film projects as assistant director, researcher, consultant and writer.
