BRAZIL: GUEST COUNTRY AT VLAFF 2016

This is the first time that VLAFF will be hosting Brazil as the guest country. The selection of Brazilian films includes a retrospective on the work of acclaimed director and screenwriter Anna Muylaert and a special section of Indigenous films from the Videos nas aldeias project. In the New Directors section, we will screen Neon Bull, the haunting second feature of Gabriel Mascaro (August Winds), as well as the football drama Hopefuls. Three short films screen in the competition section and we will present two classic films from the 1960s by Brazilian maestro Glauber Rocha.
