CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
2010 VANCOUVER LATIN AMERICAN FILM FESTIVAL
The Vancouver Latin American Film Festival (VLAFF) invites you to participate in its eighth annual festival being held in Vancouver in September 2010.
VLAFF has the distinction of being the largest and longest-running festival of solely Latin American cinema in Canada. VLAFF showcases perspectives of Latin American cultures through new full-length feature films, documentaries and shorts films.
VLAFF creates a unique space for local and international filmmakers to screen their films and share their ideas with festival audiences that include the rapidly growing Latin American population, as well as Canadians of various backgrounds who share an interest in Latin American culture.
In 2009, VLAFF offered special screenings of high-profile films that were presented at some of the most prominent international film festivals in the world – Cannes, Toronto, Buenos Aires, Havana and Berlin – and won awards in the festival circuit as well as national academy awards in their home countries. In addition, VLAFF hosted a series of seminars and workshops lead by internationally-recognized industry leaders Such a prestigious program shows that VLAFF has arrived “on the map” of the Latin American festival circuit.
“VLAFF 8,” to be held in September 2010, is poised to build on our existing momentum. We invite submissions to form a part of our program.
2010 GUEST COUNTRY: Colombia
Every year at our festival we shine a spotlight on one country. In previous years, we paid special tribute to the cinema of Mexico, Argentina, Cuba and Chile. We are pleased to announce that in 2010 Colombia will have a special place at our event.
