A woman is imprisoned in a private prison operated by an organized criminal group, while another has spent the last decade searching for her missing daughter. Together with images that submerge us in a trip through the physical landscape of Mexico, these two women’s testimonies intermingle and take us on a journey to the centre of a powerful storm: a place where violence and impunity have taken complete control of individuals’ and communities’ lives and dreams. Through their voices, director Tatiana Huezo draws us into the story of a country steeped in loss and pain, but also love, dignity and resistance.

The two spoken stories that run parallel in Tatiana Huezo’s smouldering, incendiary documentary would be worth hearing even if they weren’t accompanied by such absorbing imagery.” Jessica Kiang, IndieWire
