Al Sabor Afro unfolds the culinary history of Afro-descendant women in the municipality of Moñitos, Córdoba, popularly called “the paradise of the Caribbean”. Through the eyes of Amalia, a young entrepreneur from the community. Through these stories narrated around the stoves, the life stories of each of them will be revealed, for whom the autochthonous and traditional gastronomy of the Afro peoples has been their form of liberation and empowerment over time.
Director Statement
What is flavor? Flavor of music, flavor of ingredients, flavor of joy transmitted through the life stories of four women who have found in cooking the space for liberation and preservation of Afro-Colombian culture.
The documentary “Al Sabor Afro” unfolds the culinary history of Afro-descendant women from the municipality of Moñitos, Córdoba, popularly known as “the paradise of the Caribbean.” Through the lens of Amalia, a young entrepreneur from the community, these stories narrated around the stoves will reveal the life stories of each of them, for whom the indigenous and traditional gastronomy of Afro communities has been their way of liberation and empowerment over time. Little by little, a culinary legacy will be transmitted that transcends generations, an important part of the culture of a people, as in this, one can see reflected the nature, customs, traditions, and idiosyncrasy of the Afro-descendant community belonging to this beautiful municipality located on the shores of the Caribbean Sea.

Amalia Rosa Acosta Pacheco, a business administrator, has been immersed in the world of craftsmanship for about three years in the Municipality of Moñitos, Colombia. Her dedication extends beyond her professional life, actively participating in community projects that celebrate and preserve the cultural essence of her hometown. With a passion for dance, music, craftsmanship, and gastronomy, Amalia is not just a practitioner but a director, leading the creation of a documentary that captures the stories of influential women, showcasing their pivotal roles in both her personal life and the community.
