Shaira, a girl from the plains, dreams of participating in a coleo festival like her deceased brother Andrey. However, one day her horse disappears, and the reason is because her grandfather is suffering a drought in his crops forcing him to sell it without mentioning anything to his granddaughter.

On a plains sunset, his grandfather asks her if she knows the reason why animal figures are formed in the clouds. He tells her that the sky traps them and that is why these figures are formed, and until the day it rains again on earth, they return to the village. Shaira decides to go in search of a special seed that will make it rain again and bring her horse Semillas back.

ELIANA NIÑO

She is a director, screenwriter, and film producer. She earned a Master’s degree in “Cinéma, Réalisation et Création” at the University Paris 8 in France. She wrote and directed the short film “Bajo el Jardín”, winner of multiple awards at national and international festivals. Her first feature film, Semillas, won grants from the Colombian FDC and the Spanish ICAA for feature film production. The film participated in the First Cut Section of the Argentinean market Ventana Sur 2023 and the Work-in-Progress (WIP) section of the Cartagena International Film Festival 2024.
The feature film recently had its world premiere at the 41st Chicago Latino Film Festival 2025. She is the director of -guionistars*, a collective that seeks to strengthen the craft of women screenwriters, with projects such as the screenwriting lab “Heroines and Villains” and “The Women’s Screenwriting Triathlon”.
