A family passionate about cumbias and bicycles, shares a culture where brotherhood between the different neighbourhoods of the city is a refuge from accusations and social discrimination.

World Premiere, Ambulante Film Festival, 2025

This is the first feature film by José Luis Cano, who has collaborated with the Festival for six years as a programmer. After premiering at the prestigious AMBULANTE FF, CARNALISMO has had an extensive run at more than ten film festivals and exhibitions in Mexico.

23-year-old Osvaldo lives in a remote, rural town on the outskirts of San José, Costa Rica’s capital city. Tired of facing a destiny that seemingly cannot be changed, he decides to confront the world that has turned its back on him. Feeling discouraged by the limitations of his surroundings, he chooses to carve out a place for his work in his own way.

JOSE LUIS CANO

José Luis Cano is a director and producer who graduated from the Dolores del Río Cinematography and Acting Center in Durango with a specialty in Filmmaking. He participated in the IMCINE National Network of Audiovisual Poles for documentary film in 2017 and has taken online training courses on scriptwriting and independent film. Since 2019 he has been one of the programmers of the Vancouver Latin American Film Festival.
