Chile, 1955. When the popular writer María Carolina Geel kills her lover, the case captivates Mercedes, the shy secretary of the judge in charge of the case. After visiting the writer’s apartment, Mercedes begins to question her life, identity, and the role of women in society as she finds an oasis of freedom in that home.

Maite Alberdi

Maite Alberdi (Santiago de Chile, 1983) has directed El salvavidas (2011), La once (2014), Los niños (2016) and El agente topo / The Mole Agent (Perlak, 2020), premiered at Sundance in the World Cinema Documentary competition, was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, winner of the Ariel for Best Ibero-American Film and nominated for the Goya in the same category. The project had been selected in 2017 for the San Sebastian Festival Co-Production Forum, where she landed the Audience Award for Best European FIlm in 2020. In 2023 La memoria infinita / The Eternal Memory won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance in the World Cinema Documentary competition, was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature and won the Goya for Best Ibero-American Film. She was a member of the Official Selection Jury in 2021.
