Sofia is putting up wanted posters all over town. Her boyfriend Luis is one of the more than 80,000 disappeared in Mexico. Copies of her photo surround her. At night, Sofia faces the recurring dream of a world turned into paper. First the birds, then the floor, his room, until even death is made of paper.
Sofía está poniendo carteles de “se busca” por toda la ciudad. Su novio Luis es uno de los más de 80.000 desaparecidos en México. Copias de su foto la rodean. Por la noche, Sofía se enfrenta al sueño recurrente de un mundo convertido en papel. Primero los pájaros, luego el suelo, su habitación, hasta que hasta la muerte está hecha de papel.
Gisela Carbajal Rodríguez
Gisela Carbajal Rodríguez was born in Aguascalientes Mexico in 1987. She studied Audio Visual Arts at Universidad La Concordia Aguascalientes where she graduated in 2009. Since 2012 she has been studying Directing for Documentary Film and Television journalism at University of Television and Film Munich. She was selected for the Docuvillage Directors Program in Akko, Israel in 2015. In 2016 she shot a journalistic project in South Africa on a DAAD Promos scholarship. Her latest documentary “Oro Blanco” was screened at over 50 festivals and was nominated for the Student Academy Award in 2019. In 2019 she also received the Special award of the Kirch foundation’s media art scholarship.She currently works on the animated documentary „Ausente“ supported by the Bavarian Film Fund and produced by the Mexican production company Brujazul.
Felix Klee
Felix Klee lives and works in Munich where he currently studies directing for documentary film at University of Television and Film Munich. From 2020 – 2022 he serves as a member of the Youth Advisory Board at Locarno Film Festival. He is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts Munich where he studied time-based media under Prof. Julian Rosefeldt and painting under Prof. Pia Fries. He studied painting under Prof. Thomas Hartmann at the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg and was a guest student at Universidad de las Artes Aguascalientes Mexico.
