Andrea Urquiola (Argentina, 1977) studied at the Universidad del Cine in Buenos Aires. There, she directed a music video and collaborated on several short films. She spent two decades in advertising as a creative developer alongside directors worldwide.
In 2018, she co-directed a campaign with a collective of women advocating for the legalization of abortion in Argentina. In 2020, her short docu-film Amor Grafa was presented at the CCK–Kirchner Cultural Center in tribute to workers on Labor Day. She’s an active member of an organization for families of trans children, a community she joined as the mother of a trans girl. Her journey within this group inspired her to write and direct her first narrative short film, La Cerrillana (completed in 2025), a story that celebrates trans lives and the power of unconditional family support. Andrea aims to tell uplifting, affirming stories about trans people and the families who love them.
