VLAFF is thrilled to host in Vancouver, the Mexican writer Cecilia Fuentes to present her book Mujer en papel: Memorias inconclusas de Rita Macedo, based on the memoirs of her mother, actress Rita Macedo, who was one of the stars of the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema and is one of the protagonists of the A Criminal Life of Archibaldo de la Cruz, our Opening Night Film. Cecilia Fuentes is also the daughter of renowned Mexican writer Carlos Fuentes (and a chapter of the book focuses on him).

La mañana del 6 de diciembre de 1993, Rita Macedo visitó a su hijo Luis de Llano en su oficina, le dijo que estaba ahí para despedirse. Horas más tarde, se quitó la vida.
