Fatima, Brandy, Ana and Cecilia never met, but their stories did. They have different ages, origins and skin colors, but they are all Latin American women who were affected by violence. “I Will Never Be The Same” is a documentary feature film that addresses stories of vulnerability and strength lived in Mexico, Honduras, Brazil and Argentina. Stories that, with all their contrasts, dialogue and rhyme with each other.
Fátima, Brandy, Ana e Cecilia nunca se conheceram, mas suas histórias sim. Elas têm idades, origens e cores de pele diferentes, mas todas são mulheres latino-americanas que foram afetadas pela violência. “I Will Never Be The Same” é um longa-metragem documental que aborda histórias de vulnerabilidade e força vividas no México, Honduras, Brasil e Argentina. Histórias que, com todos os seus contrastes, dialogam e rimam entre si.
Alice Lanari premiered in 2018 her first documentary, the feature film “Latin Wars” (co-directed with Pedro Asbeg), in the hours concours session of the 51st Brasilia Festival. Since then, the film has circulated to over 20 festivals around the world, including the 40th Havana Festival and the 13th DOCSMX, where it received honorable mention. She has been assistant director on over a dozen feature films, including the documentary “Juízo”, by Maria Augusta Ramos. She directed the short documentary “Escuta, gajon” and videoclips such as “Amor Brando” (Karina Buhr) and “Domingo” (Vecina).
Since 2013 she is a partner of the Rio de Janeiro based company production Gaivota Studio, where she develops and directs the TV series “Mo.Ch.I.L.A” and produces the feature documentary “Termodielétrico”. She is associate producer of “The Edge of Democracy”, a Netflix original directed by Petra Costa and nominated for the OSCAR for Best Documentary in 2020. She spent six years living between Argentina and Mexico and today lives in Brasilia/Brazil, where she just set up Tantas, an enterprise of audiovisual content focused on female narratives. I WILL NEVER BE THE SAME is her second documentary feature film.
