UPDATE: Winner of the 2022 Critics Jury Prize: ROZA

 

For a long time the method of how prizes are awarded in the arts has been a much debated topic. We hope that this exercise will contribute to a greater transparency in how prizes are awarded, as well as for the public to learn more about the work of film critics and to view the films in discussion from new perspectives.

 

Marcela Gamberini (Argentina) Marcela studied Letters in the University of Buenos Aires. She has worked at this University since 1986. She was a teacher in various institutions, including  the National School of Buenos Aires. Marcela collaborated for over 15 years in the film magazine El Amante. She currently collaborates in the film site Con los ojos abiertos . She has been a jury member at various national and international film festivals.


Alexandra Vazquez (Paraguay) has a degree in Film studies from the Columbia University of Paraguay, where she currently teaches the Script Workshop and Script Tutoring chairs. She has a master’s degree in Film Criticism from Aula Crítica in Barcelona. Alexandra writes for the magazine El Espectador Imaginario in Spain, and for La Pistola de Chéjov, a virtual critic’s space. She has published films texts in the newspapers El Nacional de Paraguay and in Correspondencias – Cine y Pensamiento. She is part of the editorial team of La Rabia, a feminist film critic publication. She is a member of the AICA, International Association of Art Critics, Paraguay Chapter. She has been part of the Young Jury of the 35th Mar del Plata International Film Festival and has participated in Talent Press inof Buenos Aires Talents.


Erick Estrada is a Mexican film critic. In 2008, alongside Joaquín Rodríguez, he co-founded Cinegarage, a project focused on film criticism. Through Cinegarage, Erick has worked with many cultural institutions in Mexico City, organizing film courses, curatorships, and film series.
