To celebrate our 20th Anniversary, VLAFF is pleased to announce its first competitive section for Latin-Canadian films to be screened at the festival in the fall from August 25 – Sept 4, 2022.
With the announcement of this new competitive section, VLAFF seeks to highlight and bring together the great talent of Latin-Canadian filmmakers from all across the world.
This new section will be part of CANADA LOOKS SOUTH, a non-competitive section established at VLAFF in 2011 to showcase works by Latin-Canadian filmmakers and filmmaking collectives.

This section is open to feature-length and short films by Latin-Canadian directors and/or Canadian-based directors with films containing Latin American content. Fiction, animation, documentary, hybrid. Year of production: 2021-2022
Prize:
$1,500 CAD and a diploma
Submissions will open via an online form on January 31 and close on May 31, 2022.
