The 21st edition of the Festival will showcase a diverse array of contemporary and classic Cuban cinema. We are very pleased to welcome renowned Cuban director and screenwriter PAVEL GIROUD, who will be in attendance to present three of his films: THE COMPANION, PLAYING LECUONA and his latest film THE PADILLA AFFAIR. Other contemporary titles that will be screening are the acclaimed VICENTA B by Carlos Lechuga and BLUE HEART by Miguel Coyula. In addition, we are very excited to welcome to Vancouver professor Susan Lord from Queen’s University, who has been an instrumental force behind the in-progress restoration of films by Cuba’s SARA GÓMEZ, an extraordinary and innovative filmmaker from the 1960s and 70s. Susan Lord will introduce the shorts program SARA GÓMEZ: Reframing Revolution.

Full descriptions and schedule will be available in early August.
