The Vancouver Latin American Film Festival is seeking applications for new Board Members to help guide the organization into its next phase. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• attend and support the annual Vancouver Latin American Film Festival;
• attend the Annual General Meeting, exact date TBA but will be in late March or early April 2021;
• attend Board meetings, which will be held at least 6 times per year (1.5 hours approx) at an agreed upon location (members may also join via online conference platforms such as Zoom);
• maintain a good understanding of VLAFF’s constitution, mandate, vision and values;
• help to shape and update the organization’s policies and procedures;
• attend and support VLAFF’s fundraising events or initiatives;
• attend and support other events held by the organization; 
• promote VLAFF events to your networks, including via social media;
• represent and advocate for the organization in the community and at meetings with potential partners.

Board Members are expected to serve at least a two-year term.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• have attended at least one VLAFF event in the past;
• have knowledge of at least one of these fields: arts festivals, community outreach, filmmaking and/or exhibition, governance, capacity building, strategic planning, fundraising, cultural granting programs, accounting/financial management, or development of workplace policy and procedures.
• have previous experience volunteering or working with arts organizations or BIPOC organizations;
• possess a passion for Latin American arts and culture;
• demonstrate commitment, leadership, decision-making skills and integrity, as well as adhere to the values of the organization;
• be community-minded and possess communication and interpersonal skills rooted in respect for others.
