We are thrilled to announce that the “Work in Progress: Afro Indigenous Voices” will take place from December 7-9, 2020!
Five films have been selected as finalists to participate in an online forum that will bring together directors, writers, and producers with industry experts from this side of the continent to have dialogues about the projects. The three members of the selection committee were: Luna Marán, Zapotec filmmaker, producer and photographer; Heitor Augusto, Brazilian programmer and film critic; and Gerardo Berrocal, filmmaker and producer of the Wallmapu (Mapuche territory).
The selected films are:
- Junkolal Dir: Diego Amando Moreno Garza, Fabiola Manyari Laura López Bracamonte, (Guatemala/México)
- My Non Place (Mi no lugar) Dir. Isis Alejandra Ahumada Monroy (México)
- Mom (Mamá) Dir. Juan Antonio Méndez Rodríguez (México)
- Bongó Itá (One Voice) Dir: Mayckell Pedrero (Cuba)
- Seven Edges (Xiica Cmotomanoj) Dir: Antonio Coello (México)
On December 9, the Jury of the forum will select the winner of the $3000 USD award for post-production of their film. The Jury is made up of Senior Director, Film, at Toronto International Film Festival, Diana Sánchez; Chilean-Canadian documentary filmmaker and producer Carmen Henríquez; and Colombian director and producer, Jhonny Hendrix Hinestroza.

El 9 de diciembre, el Jurado del Foro seleccionará al ganador del premio de $ 3000 USD para la postproducción de su película.
